The Stage

The lights go on.
There heat coming down on me.
Then I step out from the wing,
I say my first line,
and I'm free.

The seats are empty.
Not to my Suprise.
My friends are behind me.
Our nerves are all shot.
We're all trying to impress the 3 pairs of onlooking eyes.

Their looking.
Their watching.
With nothing more but a blink.
My lines coming up.
Crap!
I shouldn't need to think.

I nail it.
I'm fine.
It was only just nerves.
But wait,
We need to dance.
She had told us to make smoother curves.

The dust from the curtain still appears on the stage,
As I finish the words I've memorized from the page.

I go off with a smile,
To my friends back in the wing.
The audience of three call us back out.
To congratulate us and say
Your all great, with no doubt.

I don't know why we've stressed out so much.
I mean its just a rehearsal,
The shows in 2 months.

JJ,
Okay, well I can relate to your poem because obviously I have been acting on the stage for 4 years< but I have danced on the stage for 14 1/2 years. I agree with u about the heat when the lights come on. Hahahah. I love the last line of the poem. I would have stressed too.

Hellloooo JJ. =]
Well, I can't say I relate to your poem, since I don't act or anything. But when I used to do chorus, I always got really nervous before a concert. Once in eighth grade I had a solo, and I was flipping out and I thought for sure I would forget my lines and everything. But I didn't and I was fine, just like in your poem.

This is a really good peom. You described the feelings of being on stage perfectly. I also loved the twist at the end, "the shows in 2 months" it mode me laugh. I love how you also wrote about how silly you feel for being nervous while your onstage but it's so true. I get nervous everytime.

Your tension at the rehearsal almost gives the feeling of an audition. I can totally relate! Great images!

Amazing- I could feel like I was there!
Which is pretty cool,
since I've only ever been on stage one to act/sing,
and that was a long time ago in elementary school,
so I don't remember it much.
So, saying that I can feel I was there means it was really really good. ^__^
